Play Buttons

Nearly all of the functions of a slot machine are initiated by electrical pushbutton switches that are activated by a player. In most video games, the functions also appear on the video screen and may be activated by touching the screen. The most common buttons on reel spinners and video games are:

Bet One
On a spinning-reel machine, pressing this button will register as a one-credit bet. It is exactly the same as if you put one coin into the slot, which is an alternative. If you press the button a second time, it will register as a two-credit wager. If you press it a third time, you bet three credits, and so forth. On some machines, this button is marked BET 1 CREDIT.

Play 1 Line, Play 3 Lines, etc.
This row of buttons is found on five-reel video games and typically gives you a choice of one payline, three lines, five lines, seven lines, or nine lines. If you don’t press any button, some machines default to the maximum number of payline.

Bet 1 Per Line, Bet 2 Per Line, etc.
After selecting the number of paylines on a video game, you have to decide how many credits per line you want to bet. The usual choice is one through five, although on some games you can bet as many as ten credits per line. This type of machine usually does not have a SPIN button, so pressing the BET PER LINE button activates the reels.

Bet Max
Pressing this button causes two actions to occur. First, it registers a maximum credit bet, whatever it might be for that machine. If it is a two-coin machine, it will register two coins; if it is a three-coin machine, it will register three coins and so forth. Second, it automatically spins the reels; you don’t have to press the SPIN button. On some machines, this button is marked PLAY MAX CREDITS.

Rebet
Pressing this button spins the reels, repeating the exact wager you made on the previous spin.

Spin
After indicating the number of credits you wish to bet or after inserting one or more coins, pressing this button starts the game by causing the reels to spin. If you did not wager any coins or credits, the button will do nothing. On some machines, this button is marked SPIN REELS.
